Tsunami Analysis

A gigantic earthquake of magnitude 9.0 on the Richter scale occurred in the Japan Trench east of Honshu Island on Friday, March 11. It set off a tsunami with waves as high as 10 metres, leaving more than 28000 dead or missing.

We have investigated the physics of the Tsunami and can now provide detailed assessment of the tragic catastrophe in terms of extent and severity of affected areas. On the following pages an introduction to the methodology and results can be found. More information, data and model results can be provided upon request.
